Dubbo National Merino Show
This week selected Agriculture students represented our school at the Dubbo National Merino Show (School Wether Trial), under the guidance of Mrs White and Mrs Murphy.
Over the past 2 terms, our Agriculture students have been preparing wethers for this show, including teaching the wethers to lead, learning how to judge sheep meat and wool, and knowing the correct nutrition to feed show animals.
We are very proud of the students and their results, against at least 35 other schools and hundreds of sheep entries, they were involved in junior judging for both sheep and fleeces.
Their results are as follows:
- KHS Team 1 received the 1st place for the meat value class.
- One of our sheep was awarded 7th place for his carcass attributes (this was judged out of all the sheep from every school).
- KHS was awarded one of six awards for the Best Presented School.
Congratulations to staff and students on this fantastic effort!
