Our policies and reports
Clear rules and policies help ensure students are safe, supported, and able to learn effectively at school.
Our policies and reports help families understand how our school operates. Our annual report and school plan outline what we have achieved and how we continue to improve each year. Our policies cover key areas such as attendance, absences, behaviour, uniform expectations, and how we respond to concerns.
All current operational policies can be accessed through the NSW Department of Education’s Policy Library.
At Kandos High School, we also follow the department’s School Community Charter, which guides our communication and ensures interactions between staff, students, parents, and carers are respectful, collaborative, and focused on student wellbeing.
Annual school report
Each year, we share our progress in the annual school report. It gives families a clear picture of how our school is performing and how we’re supporting every student’s success. The report reflects our commitment to openness, accountability and continuous improvement.
The report includes:
- what we’re doing well and where we’re improving
- student achievement and academic progress
- our school vision and goals
- key highlights and milestones
- challenges we’ve faced and how we’re addressing them.
School excellence plan
Our school excellence plan (SEP) is a working document that shows our priorities in learning, teaching and leading. It explains our focus areas for improvement and how we plan to get there. We write our SEP with help from our school community so it reflects our shared priorities.
School behaviour support and management plan
Our school has a school behaviour support and management plan (SBSMP). The SBSMP helps us create a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students. It sets clear expectations for student behaviour. This includes how we respond to bullying and cyberbullying. We work together with our school community to shape the plan and review it each year.

Student Representative Policy
Kandos High School has a proud tradition of students representing our school across a wide range of activities including sport, agriculture, performing arts, academic competitions, chess and leadership programs. Being selected to represent Kandos High School is considered a privilege, and students are expected to demonstrate the school’s core values of Respect, Responsibility and Positive Relationships both at school and while participating in representative activities.
Students representing the school must maintain high standards of behaviour, attendance, uniform and commitment to their learning. This includes attending training or practice sessions, completing school work and assessments, and acting as positive ambassadors for the school within the community.
While representing Kandos High School at excursions, competitions or events, students are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship, follow the instructions of supervising staff, respect officials and other competitors, and uphold the reputation of the school at all times.
Eligibility to represent the school is based not only on ability but also on a student’s effort, behaviour, attendance and commitment to our Positive Behaviour for Learning expectations. The school reserves the right to review participation if students do not meet these expectations.
Through these opportunities, Kandos High School encourages students to take pride in representing their school and to contribute positively to the strong tradition and spirit of our community.
Further details about expectations, eligibility requirements and responsibilities for students representing Kandos High School can be found in our Student Representative Policy and Procedures.
Rewards Excursion Guidelines and Criteria and Excursion Procedures
To support the safe organisation of excursions and ensure fairness for all students, Kandos High School has clear procedures and guidelines in place. Our Excursion Procedures outline how excursions are planned, approved and supervised, including risk management, duty of care, and expectations for student behaviour while off site.
In addition, our Rewards Excursion Guidelines and Criteria explain how students may qualify to attend the annual whole school rewards excursion. This initiative recognises students who consistently demonstrate positive behaviour, strong attendance, commitment to learning and our core school values throughout the year.
